BESTSCOPE: Fluorescence Microscope

  • Fluorescence Microscope uses high-intensity light source to illuminate the specimen. Fluorescence occurs when the specimen absorbs the light at a specific shorter wavelength (excitation) and then emits light at a longer wavelength (emission). This emitted light (fluorescence) creates a bright image against a dark background that can be detected and captured by the microscope.
  • Some of the key components; [1] Light Source (eg mercury or Xenon arc lamp, LED which offer greater stability and control over specific wavelength, Lasers). [2] Excitation Filter that only allow the desired wavelengths to the specimen. [3] Dichroic Mirror which is used to reflect the excitation light and transmit emission light to the detector. [4] Emission or Barrier Filter that blocks any residual excitation light but allow specific longer emission wavelengths to the detector.
  • Refer to Datasheet of various models below.
